Join this 2- hour session and walk away with specific tools to utilize with your patients when addressing unwanted weight gain and body image concerns. We will explore ways to promote and foster intuitive eating, interoceptive awareness, value-based eating and body appreciation within patients.
By the end of this session, you will have new tools to employ, reconsider the lens from which you evaluate and approach weight with CF patients, reexamine your role as a CF dietitian and envision new and more effective ways to collaborate with your Team and your patients.
This session will also include several recorded patient perspectives on how the weight gain has impacted their lives. It will have both adult and pediatric information.
By the end of this session, the attendee will be able to:
- Challenge the weight-centric lens of healthcare.
- Identify strategies to utilize when addressing body weight issues with CF patients.
- Increase awareness of techniques/approaches to employ from intuitive and interoceptive perspectives in order to foster health and optimal nutrition in CF patients.
- Identify approaches to assess excessive weight gain patterns, establish weight loss goals, and assess energy needs for pediatric patients with CF.
